Qualigenix runs the revenue cycle for independent practices in Frederick and across Frederick County. Qualigenix revenue cycle management services put eligibility, coding, claims, posting and follow-up under one team, so a problem found in posting gets fixed at the front desk instead of repeating. Revenue in a Frederick practice leaks in predictable places: a Medicaid patient who changed MCOs, an authorization that wasn't on file, a code the payer bundled, a short payment nobody compared to the contract. Each one is small. Together they decide your collections. Our job is to close each gap and report it by payer every month. Enrollment is part of that: if a provider's Maryland Medicaid enrollment isn't revalidated in ePREP on time, it's suspended, and the practice can't request authorizations or submit claims for that provider until it's fixed. Statewide timelines and prompt-pay details are on our revenue cycle management services in Maryland page. Below is what applies in Frederick County.
Qualigenix provides eight connected services for Frederick practices: insurance verification, prior authorizations, medical coding, medical billing, payment posting, denial management, A/R recovery and credentialing. Patient billing and monthly reporting by payer sit on top.
We work all payers inside your EHR and charge a percentage of collections.
Medicaid revenue in Frederick runs mostly through HealthChoice MCOs, with behavioral health carved out to Carelon. Qualigenix sets up eligibility, authorization and claim rules for each MCO so the right plan gets the right claim the first time.
Maryland's nine HealthChoice MCOs are Aetna Better Health of Maryland, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Community Health Plan Maryland, Jai Medical Systems, Kaiser Permanente, Maryland Physicians Care, MedStar Family Choice, Priority Partners, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan and Wellpoint Maryland, and Frederick County is an open enrollment area on the state's 2026 MCO chart. Members can change plans, so we check the MCO at every visit. That check gets more important on January 1, 2027, when Maryland Medicaid starts renewing most expansion adults every six months and limits their retroactive coverage to one month before the application. A patient who misses a renewal can drop off between visits, and a claim for that gap may not be covered later.
Specialty mental health and substance use services go to Carelon Behavioral Health, which has run Maryland's behavioral health ASO since January 1, 2025. Carelon handles its own authorizations and claims. Qualigenix keeps a separate front-end and claim path for these services so a Frederick practice with both physical and behavioral health visits doesn't mix them. Carelon authorizations, claim status and payments are tracked in your monthly report as their own payer line.
Maryland's prompt-pay rule covers Medicaid MCOs as well as commercial carriers. Read how Qualigenix works Maryland's prompt-pay timelines on the state page.
Novitas Solutions processes Frederick's Medicare Part A and Part B claims as the Jurisdiction L contractor. Medicare claims are due within 12 months of the service date, and we file far sooner than that. For 2026, D-SNPs in Frederick County include plans from UnitedHealthcare, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Kaiser Permanente and Alterwood Advantage. We verify the D-SNP, bill it first and follow the Medicaid crossover. Medicare Advantage plans, including D-SNPs, set their own authorization lists, so we check each plan's list instead of assuming Original Medicare rules apply. State-regulated commercial plans must pay a clean claim within 30 days. After that, interest is owed at 1.5% a month for days 31 to 60, 2% for days 61 to 120 and 2.5% after that. Qualigenix flags late payments and checks the interest on the remittance. Patient balances close the cycle. HealthChoice members can't be billed for covered services, so those balances go back to the MCO. For other patients, we bill only the patient responsibility the remittance shows, and patient billing runs from your system with clear statements.
