Qualigenix revenue cycle management services give Maryland practices one accountable team from the front desk to the final payment, across 38+ specialties and all payers. In Maryland, revenue leaks at handoffs. A front desk checks eligibility in one portal, a biller files to a different MCO portal, and nobody owns the claim that stalls between them. We close those gaps by owning every step. The same team that verifies a HealthChoice member's plan also files the claim, posts the payment and works the denial. Practices in Baltimore County, Howard County, Prince George's County and the Eastern Shore follow the same process. Maryland's payer mix makes this harder than in most states. The state contracts with nine HealthChoice MCOs, routes specialty behavioral health through Carelon Behavioral Health, and runs Medicare through Novitas. If you only need one piece, we also offer medical billing services in Maryland and medical coding services in Maryland on their own.
Qualigenix handles eligibility and benefits checks, prior authorizations, coding, claim submission, payment posting, denial management, A/R follow-up and provider credentialing for Maryland practices. We work with Maryland Medicaid, the HealthChoice MCOs,
Novitas Medicare and all commercial payers. Your staff gets back the hours they spend on hold with payers.
Practices lose revenue in five places: front-end errors, coding gaps, unworked denials, patient collections and underpayments. In Maryland, those show up in four state-specific ways.
Maryland Medicaid's Eligibility Verification System confirms coverage by phone at 1-866-710-1447 or online through eMedicaid, and it shows which MCO a patient belongs to. Coverage has to be checked for each date of service. From January 1, 2027, about 300,000 Maryland adults on Medicaid move to six-month renewals, so coverage will change more often. For commercial plans, Maryland requires an initial decision on a nonemergency authorization within 2 working days after the plan has the information it needs. Qualigenix checks both before the visit through insurance verification and benefits.
Each payer type runs its own clock. Maryland Medicaid wants a clean claim within 12 months of the date of service. Commercial carriers must allow at least 180 days. Medicare allows 12 months through Novitas. Each HealthChoice MCO publishes its own limit. Qualigenix files most claims within days of the visit and watches every open claim against its payer's deadline through our claim submission process.
Maryland's prompt-pay law requires payment of a clean claim within 30 days. It covers insurers, nonprofit health service plans, HMOs, Medicaid MCOs and the state's behavioral health administrative services organization. Late payment owes monthly interest of 1.5% from day 31 to 60, 2% from day 61 to 120 and 2.5% after that. Qualigenix flags each claim unpaid at day 30, follows up with the payer and checks that interest arrives with the payment. Claims still open at 60 days move to AR recovery.
Maryland Medicaid is the payer of last resort, so other coverage gets billed first and the patient isn't billed for covered services. Maryland-regulated HMO members can't be balance billed for covered care. On-call and hospital-based physicians who take assignment from a Maryland PPO or EPO can't balance bill either, and the federal No Surprises Act covers more cases. Qualigenix checks those rules before a statement goes out and bills patients only what they owe.
These are company-wide results across Qualigenix clients, not Maryland-only figures.
