Qualigenix runs the full claim cycle for Grand Rapids practices: eligibility checks, charge and coding review, claim scrubbing, submission, payment posting, A/R follow-up and denial appeals. We bill Michigan Medicaid and its Kent County health plans, Medicare through WPS and every commercial payer, working inside your current EHR. Most practices go live in 6 days.
Qualigenix handles billing for independent practices across Kent County, and the payer mix here takes some sorting. Priority Health, a Grand Rapids-based insurer, sells commercial, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid coverage, so one patient panel can hold three Priority products with three sets of claim rules. Add five more Medicaid Health Plans, Medicare through WPS and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and a claim sent to the wrong payer ID costs weeks.
We bill all payers. Statewide rules, such as the Michigan Medicaid filing window and the state's clean-claim law, are covered on our medical billing services in Michigan page. This page covers what changes when your patients live in Kent County: which plans they carry, where their claims go and what shifts on January 1, 2027.
Many Medicaid and Healthy Michigan Plan members in Kent County are enrolled in a Medicaid Health Plan, so their claims go to the plan, not to MDHHS. Qualigenix reads the assigned plan on every eligibility response and routes the claim to that plan's payer ID.
Six Medicaid Health Plans hold MDHHS contracts for Region 4, the West Michigan region that includes Kent County: Blue Cross Complete of Michigan, McLaren Health Plan, Meridian Health Plan of Michigan, Molina Healthcare of Michigan, Priority Health Choice and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. Each plan sets its own filing limit, claim address and portal rules. Qualigenix keeps a separate payer profile for each one, so a Molina claim never goes out carrying Meridian's edits. MDHHS also bars these plans from paying a provider who isn't actively enrolled in CHAMPS, the state's Medicaid enrollment and billing system. We check CHAMPS status for every rendering provider before the first claim goes out, because a lapsed enrollment turns into a denial the plan won't overturn.
MI Coordinated Health is Michigan's new integrated plan for adults with full Medicare and full Medicaid. In 2026 it runs only in the Upper Peninsula, Southwest Michigan, Macomb and Wayne. It reaches Region 4, including Kent County, on January 1, 2027, and MDHHS's award list for the region names Aetna Better Health of Michigan, Meridian, Molina, Priority Health Choice and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. When a patient joins one of these plans, their Medicare and Medicaid benefits are billed through that single plan. Qualigenix updates the payer on file at each patient's first 2027 visit, so the claim doesn't go to an old Medicare Advantage plan or to MDHHS as a crossover.
Michigan Medicaid fee-for-service filing limits, crossover timing and the 45-day clean-claim rule work the same way in Grand Rapids as anywhere else in the state. Our guide to Michigan medical billing rules explains how Qualigenix tracks each one.
Qualigenix sends Grand Rapids Medicare Part B claims to WPS Government Health Administrators, the Medicare contractor for Michigan and Indiana (Jurisdiction 8), and builds WPS edits and local coverage policies into claim scrubbing. Medicare Advantage claims go to the plan instead. Since 2026, those plans must decide standard prior authorization requests within 7 calendar days and urgent ones within 72 hours, and we track each request to that date. On the commercial side, Michigan gives health plans 45 days to pay a clean claim, with 12% simple annual interest after that. Plans must also tell you within 30 days what keeps a claim from being clean. Qualigenix tracks Priority Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Blue Care Network and other commercial claims against that 45-day clock and follows up when it runs out.
The figures below are company-wide averages across Qualigenix client practices, not Grand Rapids-only results. They show what the billing process above produces once a practice is live and its legacy A/R is being worked.

Qualigenix brings Grand Rapids practices live in six steps, with a 6-day average from kickoff to live claims.
We sign the BAA, assign a named onboarding owner and connect to your EHR or practice management system with no software change. An A/R snapshot keeps claims in flight from being dropped.
We confirm each payer enrollment, including CHAMPS status and Medicaid Health Plan effective dates, then map every service location and fee schedule.
Specialty coders are matched to your specialty mix, and claim edits are set for WPS, your Kent County plans and your highest-volume commercial payers.
We redirect clearinghouse enrollment and run a test transaction, so claims reach the right payer ID and remittances land in posting.
The first batch is coded, scrubbed and compared with expected reimbursement. Any payer that isn't effective yet stays on hold until it is.
Live claims go out daily, legacy A/R is worked in parallel and monthly reporting begins, with every metric defined.
Specialty-certified coders, dedicated account billers, native EHR operations across 133 platforms, defined monthly reporting, and six-day onboarding.
Your claims are worked by coders certified in your specialty and a dedicated biller who knows your payers, from Priority Health Choice to WPS. You get one named account contact, not a ticket queue.
Qualigenix bills inside the system you already use, with experience on 133 EMR and EHR platforms. Your staff keeps the software they know, and nobody has to log in to a second portal.
Each month you get a report by payer covering collections, denial rate, days in A/R and aged balances. Every number comes with its definition, so you can check the math yourself.
Onboarding averages 6 days, and legacy A/R is worked in parallel, so cash keeps coming in during the switch. Pricing is a percentage of collections, which means we're paid when you are.
Frequently asked questions regarding Kent County Region 4 Medicaid Health Plans, Priority Health Choice, WPS Jurisdiction 8 Medicare, and MI Coordinated Health.
Qualigenix bills all six Medicaid Health Plans contracted for Region 4, which includes Kent County: Blue Cross Complete of Michigan, McLaren Health Plan, Meridian, Molina, Priority Health Choice and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. We also bill Michigan Medicaid fee-for-service. Ask a billing specialist which plans make up most of your current A/R.
MI Coordinated Health reaches Kent County on January 1, 2027. Patients with full Medicare and Medicaid who join one of its plans will have both benefits billed through that one plan. Qualigenix updates each patient's payer on file at their first 2027 visit, so claims don't go to an old Medicare Advantage plan.
WPS Government Health Administrators processes Medicare Part A and Part B claims for Michigan as the Jurisdiction 8 contractor. Qualigenix builds WPS edits and local coverage policies into claim scrubbing. Medicare Advantage claims go to each plan instead, and we route them by the plan on the patient's card.
Starting January 1, 2027, most Healthy Michigan Plan members renew their coverage every six months instead of once a year. Qualigenix checks eligibility before each visit, so a missed renewal shows up before the claim goes out. Your front desk learns the patient's status in time to ask about it.
No. A Grand Rapids practice needs a biller who knows the Kent County Medicaid Health Plans, WPS and Michigan commercial payers. Qualigenix works inside your EHR and bills all of them, with a named account contact and monthly reporting by payer. Book a meeting to see how your current payer mix would be handled.
Qualigenix charges a percentage of collections, so the fee rises and falls with what your practice is actually paid. The exact percentage depends on your specialty, claim volume and payer mix. A billing specialist can walk you through it on a call at 786-259-0231.
Yes. Qualigenix signs a business associate agreement before any patient data moves, and system access is set up during onboarding inside your existing EHR or practice management system. Ask for a copy of the BAA when you book a meeting.
