Qualigenix medical billing services cover every claim a Michigan practice sends, whatever the payer. Most practices here bill a mix of Michigan Medicaid fee-for-service, Medicaid Health Plans, Medicare Advantage, traditional Medicare and commercial insurance, and each one follows its own clock. Michigan's Medicaid Health Plans are assigned by the state's 10 Prosperity Regions, so a practice in Detroit and a practice in the Upper Peninsula can bill a different set of plans for the same Medicaid patient population. The current Medicaid Health Plan contracts took effect October 1, 2024 with the same nine plans, but some service areas changed. We map your payer mix by region during onboarding and build scrub rules for each plan you see. Michigan Medicaid enrollment is also changing. From January 1, 2027, most Healthy Michigan Plan members move from annual to six-month renewals, and some adults 19 to 64 must meet new work requirements, reviewed at renewals starting March 1, 2027. More frequent renewals mean more chances for coverage to lapse between visits, so we check eligibility before every Medicaid appointment, not once a year. We work in your existing EHR, so your staff doesn't switch systems. If you need the whole cycle covered, including prior authorization and patient balances, our revenue cycle management services in Michigan add those pieces under one team.
Qualigenix handles the full claim flow for Michigan practices: eligibility checks, charge capture and coding review, claim scrubbing and submission, payment posting, denial appeals and A/R follow-up. We bill all payers, including MDHHS fee-for-service Medicaid, the nine Medicaid Health Plans,
Medicare through WPS and commercial plans. Pricing is a percentage of collections.
Michigan billing runs on four separate rulebooks: MDHHS for Medicaid, the Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) for state-regulated commercial plans, CMS through WPS for Medicare, and state and federal surprise billing protections for patients. Qualigenix builds each one into the claim workflow so deadlines and patient protections are tracked before money is lost.
MDHHS expects a fee-for-service claim to be received and acknowledged within 12 months of the date of service. Claims older than a year stay payable only if they've been under continuous active review, and a replacement claim must go in within 12 months of the latest remittance advice. Qualigenix tracks every Michigan Medicaid and Healthy Michigan Plan claim by date of service and by its last remittance date. When eligibility is approved retroactively, MDHHS accepts the claim up to six months after the eligibility determination with the required "Timely Filing" claim note, and we add that note so the exception holds.
For plans regulated by DIFS, a claim has to be billed within one year of the date of service to count as a clean claim, and the plan must pay a clean claim within 45 days or pay 12% simple annual interest. The plan has 30 days to tell you what makes a claim unclean. Qualigenix files well inside your payer contracts, which often set shorter windows than the state minimum, answers defect notices fast, and flags clean claims past day 45 for interest. Unpaid balances move to A/R recovery by payer and age.
Michigan's Medicare Part A and Part B claims go to Wisconsin Physicians Service Government Health Administrators (WPS), the Jurisdiction 8 contractor for Michigan and Indiana. Medicare requires claims within 12 months of the date of service. Qualigenix sets up your WPS EDI enrollment, scrubs each claim against Medicare edits, and works Medicare Advantage claims to each plan's own rules. Dual-eligible patients need extra care: since January 1, 2026, MI Coordinated Health plans cover Medicare and Medicaid benefits together for eligible adults in select counties, with statewide expansion planned for 2027. We check which plan holds each dual-eligible patient's coverage before the claim goes out, so it isn't sent to traditional Medicare by mistake.
Michigan's surprise billing law, in effect since October 2020, limits what out-of-network providers can bill patients of DIFS-regulated plans for emergency care and for certain care at in-network facilities to in-network cost sharing. Self-funded employer plans fall under the federal No Surprises Act instead. Qualigenix checks network status and plan type before a statement goes out, so patients only see amounts they actually owe.
These figures are company-wide results across Qualigenix client practices, not Michigan-only numbers.

Qualigenix brings Michigan practices live in six steps, with a 6-day average from kickoff to the first claims.
We sign a BAA, get access to your EHR and clearinghouse, and review your current claim and denial reports. You keep your software.
We confirm your CHAMPS Medicaid enrollment, Medicaid Health Plan participation, WPS Medicare enrollment and commercial contracts, so no claim goes to a payer that doesn't list you.
A coder with your specialty background is assigned, and we load scrub rules for each Michigan payer you bill.
We set up claim, ERA and EFT routing for each payer and send a test transaction before live claims.
A first batch of claims gets a full pre-claim check, and any setup gaps are fixed before volume goes up.
Live billing starts while our A/R team works your older Michigan claims in parallel, so new and legacy balances both move.
Certified specialty coders, native EHR operations across 133 platforms, transparent monthly reporting with defined metrics, and six-day average onboarding.
Each practice gets specialty-certified coders and a dedicated biller who learn your Michigan payers, your fee schedule and your documentation habits.
We've worked in 133 EMR and EHR platforms. Your staff keeps its system, and we log in to it.
Every month you get collections, denials, A/R aging and payer-level results, with each metric's definition written out so numbers can be checked.
Most practices go live in about six days, with legacy A/R worked while new claims start.
